sp.homefrontAs young American men leave to fight during World War II, German P.O.W.s arrive to work in the Louisiana sugarcane fields. Night after night, explosions light up the sky as enemy U-boats just offshore torpedo American merchant ships. Against the real dangers and explosive paranoia of this besieged home front, a fisherman’s beautiful widow (Academy Award-winner TATUM O’NEAL) and a mysterious European doctor (JULIAN SANDS) somehow find love.

But even as they rescue casualties from the sinking ships, suspicions swirl around them while the rogue of a village priest (TIM CURRY) decides to quash their budding romance. When a Coast Guard Ensign (Band of Brothers’ EION BAILEY) is commanded to unmask anyone who might be helping the enemy submarines, his efforts pit him against the couple as he seduces the woman’s daughter (Mean Girls’ LACEY CHABERT) and forces the final confrontation that will unmask all their secrets.

35mm, 101 minutes.
